Hi,

Your web hosting packages look like everything we need, except for one thing: they have very severely limited numbers of mailing lists allotted. Is there any way the mailing list allowances can be increased? It can't cost you hardly anything to let us set up a few more mailing lists. I think we would need maybe 30, maybe a few more, but mailman is capable of handling large numbers of lists with no problems, right? The volume on most of these lists would be reasonably small, so no bandwidth worries. I am looking probably at your Ideal hosting plan.
Thanks!

1. First create password file
[martin@athena private]$ /usr/bin/htpasswd -c /home/martin/.passwd martin
New password: *******
Re-type new password: *******
Adding password for user martin

where /home/martin/.passwd is the file where all users and their passwords will be saved
Make sure that you save this file in directory which is not accessable through the web!

2 create .htaccess file in the directory you want to protect
vi /home/martin/www/protected/.htaccess
AuthName "Martin's private directory"
AuthType Basic

AuthUserFile "/home/martin/.passwd"

require valid-user

and thats it.

If you want to update users password in a password file you can do this by issuing next command:
[martin@athena martin]$ /usr/bin/htpasswd /home/martin/.passwd martin
New password: *****
Re-type new password: *****
Updating password for user martin

to remove user for the password file just edit the file and remove the line which begins with this username.
